Lately, I’ve been having trouble staying motivated to write. My life has been busy with my kids’ end-of-school activities, my daughter’s high school graduation, family visiting from out of town, and our family vacation to Disneyland. But I’ve set a goal to write two posts per week this summer, and I need some inspiration to make my goal. Inspirational quotes are one of my favorite ways to motivate myself. I started collecting some quotes on writing and I thought I’d share them.
People write for a variety of reasons. Some write because they have a point of view that they want to share with others. Some write because they have stories they want to tell. People write because they want to promote a cause or condemn one. Many writers say they feel compelled to write. I write for many of those reasons, but also because it feels good to get my thoughts down in print. I think writing my ideas down helps clarify them and that makes me feel a stronger sense of peace. The feeling of finishing a written piece also brings a sense of accomplishment.
Not everyone gets the sense of peace and accomplishment that I do from writing, but if writing is something you enjoy or feel compelled to do, I hope you can get some inspiration from these quotes.

I have very little in common with Anne Frank. She died long before I was born and lived most of her life in danger and persecution. She spoke a different language than me and worshiped differently than I do. I have lived a much longer and simpler life than she did. But her words touch me and I have often had the same experience she described when writing.
Hopefully you have found something you relate to in these quotes. I hope it is something that touches and inspires you. Good luck with your own writing adventures.
