Favorite Things: Amazon Edition

In honor of Amazon Prime Day, I thought I’d share some of my favorite Amazon items. I’ve had my Amazon Prime membership for just under a year. It has been totally worth the $99 fee. This will be my first Prime Day as a member. I’m not sure what benefits I take advantage of yet, but I am looking forward to seeing the deals.

Please note this post contains affiliate links. If you click on one, it will take you to Amazon. It doesn’t not cost anything, but if you buy something, I may receive financial compensation. See my disclosure policy for details.

If you’re already a Prime member, don’t forget to check out all the deals starting tonight and running all day tomorrow. Here there link:   Prime Day 2017 – 30 Hours of Deals

If you’re not a Prime member, you should be! I signed up when the book my daughter needed for a class was only available to Prime members. Honestly, that put me out a bit. why should I have to pay $99 to buy one book (a paperback no less). But I decided to give the membership a try and it’s been wonderful. In case you didn’t know, Amazon Prime is much more than free-shipping.

Items included in my Prime membership include: free magazines and ebooks for my reader, free two-day shipping, free movies and television programs through Amazon Prime Video, free digital photo storage, and special Prime member deals.  There are also deals on music and groceries that I have yet to take advantage of.

Enough about Amazon Prime. Let me share with you my favorite purchases from the past year, most of which I did not pay to have shipped (thanks Amazon Prime).

Bullet Journal Supplies

I love, love, love my bullet journal. I have ordered many of my journaling supplies through Amazon. The Leuchtturm 1917 hard cover dotted journal is my favorite. I recently got a new journal from Scribbles That Matter that I am also very impressed with. Both retail for around $20.

I also love my colored mechanical pencils, so much so that I recently had to order lead refills (thanks Amazon Prime). They are made by Pilot and are erasable. I use them to add color to my journals. I also use the Tombow blending pen with them. It works really well.

I also have washi tape from AllyDrew. The price is fantastic and so is the quality. They also have quite a selection of colors and patterns to choose from.

Teaching Supplies

Amazon Prime can be a teacher’s best friend. I teach history and art and have found some great reference materials for my classes.  These books would be great for teachers, homeschoolers, or just creative kids and their parents. My classes focus on hands-on learning and that’s just what these books provide.

Most of these books are from the “For Kids” series. It is fantastic! The series covers everything from wars to inventors to political and social movements. each one contains a minimum of 21 activities to try.

Clothing

Yes, I order clothes from Amazon. The great thing about Prime is it often comes with free return shipping. So if it doesn’t fit, I just return it. I have only made the mistake once of not selecting an item with free returns. Many items have not worked out, but it’s easy, really easy, to return them. I prefer it to driving the half hour to my closest mall or digging through racks and racks on items at my local discount store.

I also got my daughter’s prom dress and graduation dress online. Her sister graduate three years ago and the process was much less painful this time around.

Clothing is a personal item. I don’t know what your style is, but here are two of my favorite purchases.

Who would have thought skinny jeans could be comfortable? I didn’t, but I was wrong.

I love a skirt with pockets! This one comes in a variety of lengths and colors. It’s light enough for summer and easy wash and wear. I can dress it up or down. Looks great with t-shirts or heels.

 Gifts

Virtually all my holiday shopping was done online this year. The Cyber-Monday deals were awesome and so was the free shipping. Some fun things I gave to family and friends include: a rock tumbler set for my son, a new tennis racket for my hubby, and art supplies and makeup for my girls. My brother got books and my Hobby supplies are also easy to get from Amazon as well as special foods. I lived in the U.K. and miss some of the foods I had there. I can order chocolates and baked beans on Amazon.

Household Supplies

Having trouble finding the right light bulb? Want to get a composter, but not sure which to try. Amazon has an unimaginable amount of household items for sale. If you need something really specific, check here. I have a TENS device that I purchased at a local store, but they didn’t carry the replacement pads. Amazon to the rescue. I can get them anytime and they arrive in 2 days thanks to Prime.

You can also read reviews to see if something you’ve been thinking might be great really is. I saw the EarthStone cleaner on television and checked it out on Amazon. It’s made an amazing difference on the hard water stains in our toilets. Seriously, it may be my best Amazon purchase so far.

Saving Money?

In researching this post, I looked back at my Amazon ordering habits. I spend more on Amazon now that I have Prime. But, at least 90% of what I ordered, I would have bought anyway. But I would have had to drive quite a distance and spend more time searching for it. Overall, I think my Prime membership has been worth it. I plan on renewing next month when it comes up. You can try it free for 30 days and see for yourself.

Let me know what you think. If you have a favorite Amazon purchase, tell me about it in the comments below.

Thanks for reading and please share!

love Leah
